In Syria, militants carried out a large-scale attack on the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and pro-government militias in the Aleppo province.
The group “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham,” with the support of pro-Turkish factions, shelled several settlements and attempted to capture them. The attackers used a suicide bomber in a vehicle packed with explosives. Reports indicate that, after heavy fighting, the terrorists managed to break into the settlements of Kubtan al-Jabal, Sheikh-Akil, Bala, and Qasimiyah. Militants seized weapons and equipment, including two tanks. One of the SAA units retreated from its positions, and one soldier was captured. At least two Syrian soldiers are reported to have been killed.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Hayat Tahrir al-Sham stated that the operation was in response to shelling of terrorist-controlled areas in the Idlib province. Propaganda sources noted that the targets of the terrorists were SAA soldiers and Hezbollah militants, who, according to their claims, are attempting to establish a foothold in Syria after leaving Lebanon.
